Debrecen's vision is to strengthen its leading role in Central and Eastern Europe as a cross-border economic, educational, scientific and cultural centre, and to become a leading centre for e-mobility worldwide. Alongside e-mobility, the city aims to achieve further economic diversification and maintain a high proportion of white-collar workers. 
A total of 1 500 hectares of industrial park in the city have been developed in the framework of sustainability: industrial grey water, solar park and green energy implementation.

The city’s dynamic economic growth is clearly demonstrated by the creation of more than 21,000 new jobs since 2015 and investment announcements from new and returning investors exceeding EUR 12.5 billion.
