Due to the new investments and economic growth the number of employed people will increase by 35,000, which means that the city will employ more than 125,000 people by the end of the decade. Debrecen has launched its strategic development program to grow its population via strengthening its role as a regional center. One pillar of this program is the development of higher and vocational education. Increase the number of students at the university from 30,000 to 50,000 students by 2050, and in vocational education by 30% until 2025, via investments in training capacity and infrasturcture.
